The Semillon Blanc Story

I was recently asked, “What’s the next big thing coming out of the Australian wine industry?” and for the first time in a long time, I didn’t have an answer so it got me thinking….
 
Every day at the cellar door, at tastings and in the trade we see and hear that consumers love an aromatic, flavoursome and crisp white wine (just look at Sauvignon Blanc) and we firmly believe there is such a versatile, amazing grape variety produced in Australia, one that McGuigan is a great producer of – Semillon.  Given the question, I decided to play with this to come up with the perfect, next generation of white wine. Semillon as you’ve never seen it before.

So I left my McGuigan winemakers with the challenge to develop a new style of Semillon. When they were ready we then lined up all of the wines and tasted each one. All were pretty good, but four were exceptional and one simply outstanding.
 
We've affectionately named it...
The Semillon Blanc
 
It’s the new millennium white burgundy style. Approachable with a sexy twist added using winemaking techniques to soften the style. It’s all about the aromatics and lift on the nose, the full flavoured body and zesty finish.
 
I’d love you to try my new The Semillon Blanc, I believe it is everything the consumer wants in a white wine today.
